Ebony and ivory.
Measurements: 176 x 168 x 18 cm (header); 123 x 168 x 17 cm (footboard); 200 x 24.5 x 6 cm (crossbars).
Italian baroque style bed frame, with ebony frame and ivory decorations, both plates engraved with figurative motifs and fillets inlaid in different geometric patterns. It consists of a footboard and a headboard, both with an architecturally inspired structure whose lines are highlighted by the pits that organize the decoration. The furniture also has carved and turned details.
The headboard is flanked by two carved Corinthian columns, with a three-dimensional capital, ribbed shaft and base decorated with reliefs. Between the columns, a plan decorated with a central tondo and two rectangular ivory plates, all three decorated with engraved classic scenes, worked in great detail in a style of Baroque influence. These plates are framed by typically baroque molded recesses, highlighted in relief on a profusely decorated background based on intricate vegetable scrolls and interlaced lines. As an entablature, on this plane an upper body with impost lines (the lower one with a central curved cutout), assembly dies on the sides, a central pediment and ornamental vases on both sides are located. The frieze is decorated with another engraved ivory plate, with the representation of a winged figure on a celestial sphere (possibly a Victory). At the same height, following the central axis, another ivory plaque decorates the center of the pediment, with a scene featuring classic putti. Finally, in the center of the pediments cornice, we see a shield with scrolls and carved acanthuses, which houses the representation of the anagram made up of the owners initials, flanked by engraved figures of hermes.
The footboard follows an identical color scheme, directly taken from Baroque models, although it presents a more profuse decoration, which fills its entire surface, since it would be visible. The lateral columns are flatter, and the basement is entirely decorated with inlaid ivory pieces, forming a kind of inset and counterpart with Baroque and mannerist motifs, developed around a central tondo that houses an allegory. The middle register is divided into two rectangular planes, with a central pilaster. In the center of these two planes we see mixtilinear plates, which follow the profile of the complex geometric layout of the molded recess that frames them. They again house allegorical representations of classical roots, engraved with great quality. The footboard is finished off by a straight entablature, adorned with the same scheme that we had seen in the headboard, although on it there is not a pediment but a lower decorative arched wall light, carved in relief and formed by two opposing scrolls.
