Auguste Moreau (1834-1917)
Auguste Moreau is a French sculptor born in Paris. He was the son of the also sculptor, painter and draftsman Jean-Baptiste Moreau, who started him in the art world.
He was trained at the "École des Beaux-Arts", where famous artists such as Henri Matisse and the sculptor Georges Gimel came from. His works were first exhibited in 1861 and he soon became a well-known artist. He developed a special style of highly detailed filigree figures, figures, and busts.
He was interested in Art Nouveau and was a great representative of this trend, based on floral motifs and ornaments, curved lines and the mix of common life with art.
