Diego López Bueno (ca. 1568 - Seville, 1632), was a versatile artist, assembler (builder of altarpieces), architect and sculptor.

His artistic beginnings took place in Seville, forming in the Renaissance environment of the city, under the influence of the architect Hernán Ruiz, the Younger, although we must frame his activity within the initial period of the Baroque that corresponds to the first decades of the 17th century.

A consummate retablista, he left a large number of works in this field, many of them pictorial altarpieces in which he did not carry out the design, but rather the construction. For example, the main altarpiece in the church of the Hospital de las Cinco Llagas in Seville, designed by Asensio de Maeda (1601), and the one that he made for the chapel of San Pedro in the cathedral of Seville, containing different paintings by Zurbarán ( 1619). Some works were destined for American lands, such as the altarpiece of the Santo Domingo de Panamá convent. He also made wooden sculptures, serving as an example of the carvings of San Pedro and San Pablo found in the parish church of Santa María de Gracia de Espera (Cádiz province) flanking the tabernacle (1629).

From 1612 to 1628 he worked as an architect for the archdiocese, making various designs for religious buildings, including the north doorway of the church of San Lorenzo and the side doorway of the church of San Pedro de Sevilla.

Between 1628 and 1632 he participated in various works in the Alcázar of Seville, such as Monte Parnaso, which was built in the Labyrinth gardens in 1629, according to the design of Jerónimo de Guzmán.
