Patrick Palmer is a London-based figurative artist. Growing up, his family was creative and free to express himself artistically. This led to a successful publishing career before deciding that he wanted to pursue art full time. He studied at the Heatherley School of Art in London and the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, in addition to taking private lessons from artist Michael Clark.
A new version of the figurative style
Palmer specializes in the human form, which contains elements of realism as he seeks to take his drawing to a higher level. Essentially, Palmer focuses his attention on post-romantic nudes that carry a delicate and suggestive tone, yet maintain a sense of elegance. His pieces provoke an interpretation of sensuality, in an implicit way that contributes to his image of good taste.
Avoiding Conventions
Palmer prefers to use oil paints that allow him to maximize the variation of color tones to explore a wider range of effects. Palmer understands that the viewer wants to see a certain degree of drawing, but at the same time seeks a deeper meaning that goes beyond technical experience. His goal is to make his work emotionally touch the viewer but maintain a degree of simplicity.
National achievements of a veteran artist
Patrick Palmer has exhibited at exhibitions and galleries such as Belgravia Gallery at Mayfair and Box Galleries on Kings Road in London. In addition, Patrick was included in the list of the 10 best contemporary portrait artists, by One Fine Bid magazine. For the past four years, Palmer, who was shortlisted for the Art Gemini Award, has exhibited across the UK. Previously, he showed his work in Hong Kong.
