José María Murillo y Bracho (Seville, 1827 - Málaga, 1882) was a Spanish painter of the Sevillian school, a disciple of Antonio María Esquivel, he is also known as José María Bracho y Murillo due to his habit of signing works by reversing the order of the last names. He participated on several occasions in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts (Spain) between the years 1858 and 1878, presenting canvases of still lifes, floral sets and fruit bowls. In the exhibition held in Jerez de la Frontera in 1856 he participated with two canvases on the costumbrista theme entitled: Preparations for a great meal and Table revolt.1 2 His works can be seen in the Museum of Malaga, a city where he was very linked and in private collections such as the Bellver Collection in Seville.
